Core Strength Training

Core strength training is aimed at the strengthening the core muscles of the body. Our body has some core muscles instrumental for our several activities. With the strength training these core muscles are made stronger to improve their condition so that we can perform our particular activities like games and sports in an improved manner. Moreover, it also results in the over all good strength and fitness. These days the tern core strength training has become a buzz word among the sprinters, athlete and elites because they better know the importance of the core muscles. Precisely speaking, they that strong core muscles play vital roles in stabilizing and providing coordination to our pelvis and spine, bases of a good postures. It is the core muscle that provides energy to our other body parts and thus makes us more capable in our sports activities. The core strength training should not be confused with other weight training. In the strength training we target separate group of muscles while in normal weight lifting our different muscle group work in unison.

What are the core muscles?

Following are the core muscles usually targeted in the strength training programs.

  1. Hip muscles: It comprises rectus femoris, gluteus maximus, biceps femoris, piriformis, gemellous, inferior and superior; minimus and medius ,etc.
  2. Abdominal: Tranversus abdominis, abdominal obliques and rectus abdominis.
  3. Spine muscles : Quadratus lumborum, erector spinae, multifidus and lattisium dorisi, etc.
 

Benefits of core strength training

 

There are some obvious benefits of core strength training. These include greater balance and stabilization, good efficiency of movements, good balance and control of the body, better out put from the body parts like legs, arms and shoulder and less risk of injury and certain diseases like obesity, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Core strength training is also applied to reduce the chronic back problems. The muscles attached to the upper and lower back and spine are give resistance so that they do more than their normal functions resulting in their improved functions.

Instruments used for core strength training

There are different strength training equipments for the strength training exercises. They are available in the market and you can purchase them with the help of a good retailer or an instructor. Most prominent among them are stability board, medicinal ball and balance ball. These equipments are very useful in this strength training but you use your body weight also to serve this purpose. Dumbbells and other free weight equipments are also useful in giving your body muscles different types of movements. Moreover there are some specific exercise to strengthen your core muscles they are known as lateral bridge and prone bridge exercises, pelvic thirst and supine bridge, good morning exercises and Russian twists also. Cross over with dumbbell lunges are also instrumental for some of your core muscles. In addition to all these there are some other exercises that can be resorted to for the core exercise. They include leg press, lateral ups and downs, back extensions, deadlifts, chin ups and regular lunges.
