Ball Stretching

If you are some one who is a fitness freak then you must have visited a gym or a fitness centre. There you might have seen people working out with the help of a balloon, which is also known as the exercise ball. This ball is actually one of the best stretching equipments found in the gyms these days. It allows a wide range of motion and hence allows the person to get a full round stretching exercise. All this started in the early 90s when this ball thing was new to the fitness world. Some innovative minds saw the potential in the so called new stretching exercise and since then it has become an indispensible part of fitness centers.

These balls that are used for ball stretching exercise come in various shapes and sizes. They are known as stability balls or Swiss balls in the more popular form. These balls are really portable and can bear the weight of the heaviest of homosapiens. These are balls are normally filled with air and the pressure of the air inside the ball is kept to a predetermined level so that they can be fit for exercising. These balls should not be filled with excessive amount of air as it increases the risk of getting blown up. The appropriate amount of air that a ball can bear equals 600 to 700 pounds of weight.

  • Ball stretching provides the complete stretching exercise of the body, even those muscles that are not even acted upon during the normal training sessions get stretched and hence the body feels much more relaxed with the ball under it. It looks awkward telling someone that you work out with a ball in the gym, but it looks awesome when some one compliments your toned body.
  • It can be done anywhere and does not require much of an investment. Thus it is good for your body and light on pocket also.

The best way to do a ball stretch is to lean against the ball with you hands on your hips and then stretching, keep doing the bending thing until your stamina surrenders.
