Swimming Workouts

Swimming itself is called the best exercise but to excel in the art of swimming requires some more efforts. For this purpose the basics of swimming workouts may help enhance the swimming skill. The workouts for swimming for beginners are designed for 400m to 1200m length. There is no need to hire a professional to learn these workouts. These workouts can be easily done. Some of these workouts are warm up, ladder, back stroke, pyramid, breaststroke, sprints and individual medley.

Rules of swimming workout

There are some rules to be followed for the swimming workouts. First, the number of workouts to be done per week should be determined. Second, at least two workouts should be done per week and that may be increased up to five. Third, the time for each workout should be fixed for the entire period during which the workouts have to be performed. Fourth, one workout should be given not more than 75 minutes. And time should not be increased suddenly. The increment in time may be ten percent utmost. There may be an increase of 5 to 10 minutes per week. Fifth, the workout session should be started with the longest workout followed by the short one.

Speed, endurance and form workouts

For speed and endurance in the swimming speed workouts are necessary but if the frequency of swimming is thrice in a week then there is no need to do speed workouts regularly. But endurance exercise should be done on a regular basis. Now there is debate as to what should be the swimming routine and how many days should be given to swimming in a week. Actually for beginners it should be three to four times per week for short time period. Workout session for short duration helps maintain the form of the swimmer. Moreover workouts of longer duration results in fatigue and sore of the muscles. For beginners, afraid of water may be a problem. There in this case it is better to build up endurance and do endurance workouts for longer period such 6 to 8 weeks. The basic idea in the swimming is to stay in the water with little effort or using little energy. One important lesson about the workout is that workout should never be duplicated as each workout is different from others. Each workout is designed for a particular purpose and to build strength and endurance. So, keep adding the different variety of workouts in the workouts session. The variety of swimming workouts raises the fitness level and makes the workout session interesting. Repeating the same workouts session every week may create boredom and therefore introducing different workouts in each week will prevent it from being monotonous.
